About Anuna

Anuna Pearl was born on the remote atoll of Takaroa, a small atoll about 370 miles from Tahiti. With fewer than a thousand residents, Takaroa is a close-knit community surrounded by vibrant coral reefs and rich marine life. It’s a place we’re proud to call home.

Co-founder, Taumata Temanaha, comes from generations of pearl farmers who have worked these same lagoon waters for decades. Taumata continues the tradition with deep respect for both the craft and the environment - using sustainable methods that let the oysters thrive naturally and preserve the island’s delicate ecosystem.

Joel Whitt, our other co-founder, first lived on Takaroa in the 1990s, where he fell in love with the people, the culture and rhythm of island life. Years later, a return visit reconnected Joel and Taumata - and sparked the idea to bring the Temanaha family’s legacy back to life.

In 2018, together they revived the farm and started Anuna Pearl - a small, family-run brand dedicated to sharing the beauty and authenticity of true Tahitian Black Pearls, straight from the source.

All of our pearl jewelry is handmade featuring pearls hand selected from the farm, at our Boise, Idaho workshop.
