Caring for Tahitian Pearls
Cleaning Pearls - Clean your pearls by gently wiping them with a soft damp cloth to remove oil or residues. Avoid any harsh chemicals that can dull the pearl’s luster. Every so often, or if your pearls are particularly dirty, clean them with a mild soapy solution and a soft damp cloth and rise.
Storage - Pearls are a soft organic gem making them susceptible to scratches. When storing your pearls, store them away from other jewelry pieces or put them in a soft pouch to protect them.
What to Avoid
Pearls are delicate organic gems and certain everyday products and habits can dull their luster or cause lasting damage. Keep your pearls away from perfume, hairspray, and lotions — a good rule of thumb is to put your pearls on last when getting dressed and take them off first. If your pearls are exposed to sweat, simply wipe them down with a soft cloth afterward to keep them looking their best. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemical jewelry cleaners on pearls, and keep them out of prolonged direct sunlight which can cause discoloration.
